The work is called "Night of the Forty" in honour of the Persian holiday "Shabe Yalda" - the birth of the sun and victory over the darkness. The pomegranate is the symbol of the holiday, representing the red sun and eternal life.

The work explores the relationship between darkness and light, death and birth, the connection to nature and the coming of winter. Living through the pain of loss in the longest night and being in a state of terror before death, the cycle of life continues its course and light reappears.
